Objective

To establish community radio stations that are used by their respective communities as a medium to foster democracy, tolerance and social justice in accordance with Islamic values.
Location
:
Cirebon City as well as Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka  and Kuningan Districts.
Description of Activities :
1. Caderisation Course for Ulama

This course will be attended by young pesantren students, alumni and teachers in relevant communities who have a high level of expertise in classical Islamic literature. The course is designed to teach these young ulama about the social mission of Islam in addressing problems of poverty, inequality, injustice and the marjinalisation of minority groups.2. Training for Community  Activists

This training course is designed as a form of continuing education and capacity building for partners of Fahmina-institute who are already carrying out community work. This training course focuses on how to turn community radio stations into centres for this community work.

3. Developing Community Radio Stations

This acitivity aims to facilitate the development of community radio stations in selected communities, both in terms of the physical establishment of these radio stations as well as the content of broadcasts.

This activity is comprised of four parts:

  • Facilitating the establishment of community radio station
  • Development of community radio programs containing news, lectures and talkshows related to community issues, that reflect  values of Islamic humanitarian journalism.
  • Publishing Blakasuta newsletter as an inter-community medium for sharing ideas and experiences.
  • Network meetings, three times per year, for community radio activists and staff.

4. Publishing the book, Jurnalisme Kemanusiaan Islam Berbasis Komunitas (Community Based Islamic Humanitarian Journalism)

This book is a compilation of ideas and experiences from two years of running this program.  In publishing this book, we hope our experiences can benefit other community radio and media activists.
