Anti-Trafficking Campaign

Objective
:
To improve public knowledge regarding the crime of trafficking and how to address it.
Description of Activities :

Fahmina has been running an Anti-Trafficking Campaign since 2004.

Program activities for the funding period 2008-2009 are as follows: 

I. Anti-Trafficking Campaign via Public Media
 
a. Publishing Al-Basyar Bulletin

Fahmina's friday Al-Basyar bulletin regularly publishes material addressing the issue of human trafficking and socio-cultural factors related to human trafficking as well as community programs, laws and government policies that are related to the crime of human trafficking.

This bulletin is published every Friday, and is distributed to mosques, prayer groups, government offices, mass organisations and anti-trafficking netoworks in Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka and Kuningan districts as well as Situbondo.

b. Production of Community Service Announcements

These community service announcements are produced by community radio activists and circulated to radio sations as a way of socialising anti-trafficking information.

c. Community Radio “Anti Trafficking” Talkshow

In cooperation with a number of community radio stations facilitated by Fahmina-institute, a fortnightly talkshow will be broadcast discussing anti-trafficking and safe migration issues with a expert guest speakers.

 

II. Network Meetings

The purpose of these meetings is to devise a work mechanism as well as create a database of references and cases for the Community Anti Trafficking Network (JIMAT) in Cirebon, which since 2005 has pushed for the creation of policy that  addresses the interests of victims of human trafficking. 

III. Regional Policy Advocacy

In cooperation with JIMAT, Fahmina continues to lobby for the swift ratification of the Draft Prevention and Protection Act for the Practice of Trafficking of Women and Children.

Polmas (Perpolisian Masyarakat) / COP (Community Oriented Policing)
Duration

March 2008 - October 2009.
Objective
:
To create a partnership between the community and police in handling community issues such as security, and to improve the community's trust in the police force.  This community policing project is part of a nation-wide program run by POLRI (Indonesian national police force), designed to help police carry out their work in the community more effectively, decrease crime rates and encourage reform of policing.
Location
:
Fahmina runs this program in three districts:  Majalengka, Indramayu, and Cirebon.
Description of Activities :

This program focuses on training in creating solutions for problems in the community through cooperation between police and the community.

The main program activities are:

  1. needs assement
  2. design of training course
  3. running the training course x 3
  4. media campaign via newsletter
